I went in completely blind and was at the store buying book two before I finished book one. The competition is almost beside the point—this book is actually about court politics, interpersonal chaos, and a murder mystery running underneath it all. This delivered exactly what it promised and then surprised me with everything it didn't advertise. I have theories.
