Literary fiction with a mystery underneath. Layered, deliberately paced, and completely worth the patience it asks of you. Two disappearances, 14 years apart, and a family with so many secrets that I didn't have a solid theory until 70% through. The family dynamics and class commentary are sharp and genuinely complex. Justice is served in a way that felt satisfying. Stick with it through the setup—the ending moves fast and it earns every bit of it.
