This one has it all: tension, yearning, and a morally grey cast of characters. I went in expecting a straightforward fantasy romance and came out pleasantly surprised by the depth, the reveals, and the twists. Sera is a badass and Nyktos, the Primal of Death, is not at all what you'd expect. He's so much better. The storyline and romance balance each other well, and I immediately started book two after finishing. A darker entry point into romantasy that earns its complexity.
